Social media users praise LGBT+ inclusion on Blind Date

Last night Blind Date had it's very first LGBT round to coincide with Pride in London 2017.

It was broadcast on Channel 5 with three lesbians, trying to bag a date with Celine Dion superfan Alice in the second half of the programme.

It was so refreshing to see! Channel 5 following in the footsteps of other programmes such as 'Come Dine With Me' on Channel 4, which already regularly features LGBT+ contestants.

The new host of the show Paul O'Grady was clearly loving it as he tried to find Alice "the girl of her dreams".

One social media user commented: "Cilla is looking down on this smiling. It's been over 30 years in the making", commenting on the late Cilla Black who presented the original version of the show.

In the end, out of the three ladies, Alice chose to go on a date with Steph, a 26 year-old digital content manager from Southampton.

We'll have to wait and see how it all went!

Here's some more social media reaction from last nights episode:

Don't forget you can catch Blind Date every Saturday night at 8pm on Channel 5 in the UK.
